UQSPIA CLASS OF 2018 ALUM
Jonaa Eva - Samoan/Australian
Bachelor of Business Management/Bachelor of Science

“Being at UQ for 4.5 years I learnt a lot through my Business Management and Science Degree. I chose this combination based on my own interests and what would help me in the future. While it was trying at times I knew what I could do and that I’d be glad when it was over. My plan is to enter the workforce eventually, though I’m not sure where, I want to make an impact somewhere. Though, for the time being I want to travel and have a break before I commit to work forever, happy to never take another course or subject again.
I found being at Uni highlights how important people are for your own development. Initially I was shy and reserved, however, over time as I joined clubs like SPIA I became much more comfortable in my own skin. There are so many opportunities to be involved and meet people I only wish I started earlier. Making friends and forming relationships is what makes Uni so much more rewarding than it being about a piece of paper.
My take away from Uni is that success comes in all shapes and forms. What someone else sees as success does not mean it’s the same for you and you shouldn’t compare yourself to others. If I know what I’m doing is what I want to do, I’ll be happy.”
