ACKNOWLEDGEMENT OF COUNTRY

The University of Queensland South Pacific Islander Association (UQSPIA)
acknowledges the Turrbal and Yugara people as the first nation owners of the
waterways, skies and lands on which UQ now stands.

As Pasifika people, we acknowledge and honour the connection Aboriginal people and Torres Strait
Islanders have to their lands and seas. We pay respects to their elders, lores,
customs and creation spirits. We recognise that this land always was and
always will be Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander country, sovereignty was
never ceded and the fight for justice continues.
