Bachelor of Education (Primary)

"During my time at the University of Queensland, I have learnt so many things. Not just things about how to lead the new generation of students into a brighter and better future, but also about myself and how I can do whatever I put my mind to, with the support of my family and friends. Moving away from my immediate family four years ago was such a hard thing to do, but I believe it was all for the better, as I received an education that will take me very far in life. I will be going into the workforce next year, and even though it is daunting to have 25 young minds to mould, I have faith in myself that I will be able to do so with the knowledge I have accumulated at UQ. I decided to study education as I have a few teachers in my family that love doing it, and I also have a love for children and how they light up when they are learning. I enjoyed my time at UQ, with the wonderful people I graduated with. We have so many memories to look back on and I know I have friends for life. I feel as though being a part of UQSPIA has allowed me to be proud in a new way of my culture, as I saw so many others doing the same. I guess I had never really thought about what it meant to me to be from PNG, but with the help of my family and friends, and UQSPIA, I have found that I am so proud of where I come from and am excited for what we, as a community, can do to better the outcome of our countries. My words of advice? Believe. In yourself, in your abilities, in your faith; and you will get there. Thank you so much much for letting me be a part of this, I hope more pacific islander students will join UQSPIA and will be able to pursue their dreams as well."
