UQSPIA CLASS OF 2016 ALUM
Jermaine Werror - Papua New Guinean
Bachelor of Arts/Bachelor of Laws

"After six incredible years as an undergraduate at UQ, it is with great sadness that I close this chapter of my life to embark on the next. I am grateful for the friends I've made, the knowledge I have acquired and the experiences that have taught me valuable lessons throughout my time at UQ.
If there is one thing I have learned at UQ, it's that learning is a holistic exercise that extends beyond books and institutional walls. As a UQ student, I was blessed with opportunities many would dream of including the opportunity to work/study abroad, actively contribute to social justice in the community and participate in many different extra curricula and leadership activities. I would highly recommend that students, both current and future take full advantage of these. The opportunities are endless at UQ.
Lastly, I am extremely pleased with the collective effort of the South Pacific Island students in making UQSPIA a success since its inception in 2015. This initiative demonstrates that we are capable, as the young and future leaders of our region to work together to address significant issues affecting our countries including climate change, violence against women and children and corruption. UQSPIA has given me a unique sense of pride in my culture and heritage as a Papua New Guinean, Melanesian and Pacific Islander and I am confident that this legacy will remain for future students to enjoy.
Mahalo. Faafetai. Vinaka. Tangio tumas. Fai'akse'ea. Thank you."
